Things Aure is trying to get answers for:

  • Are VG-8 Style HRM models included?

- The VG-99 does feature HRM models, it has a new HRM model which mimics the Roland GR-300 guitar synth

  • Is the editor software also a librarian? And if so, can utilize that feature for automatic web site downloads/posts of sounds.

- The editor is not a librarian, however a librarian is also offered for download from Rolands site. You can load patches into the VG-99 via the editor software

  • Is it possible to import VG-88 v2 presets into the VG-99, or do all those presets have to be discarded?

  • Editor screen

Cool ideas worth considering:

  • Why hasn't anyone come up with a GK-13 to USB converter and let the computer do the processing of pitch to MIDI and modelling. Hello IK Multimedia? Native Instruments? Roland? It would practically just be an RMC Fanout box and a 6 channel audio interface. It doesn't sound too hard to me.

- At least one such box has been designed, prototypes built, and several units are in circulation (I'm not at liberty to say where). It uses a 13 pin input and an Ethernet connection to attach to the computer (VERY low latency). This product idea was pitched to one of the companies who are listed above and two that are not listed here. None of the companies were interested; one company cited the limited market for products which required hex pickups to be installed on guitars. Maybe someday a company will be smart enough to understand the potential of processing each string individually using a general purpose computer.

  • More than you ever wanted to know about ribbon controllers:

There are ribbons, and a few other interesting things, here:

http://www.doepfer.de/zubeh_e.htm

Doepfer announced a complete ribbon controller solution here, but it's a bit unwieldy for my ideas:

i-Cube-X has a few:

For the real DIY folks, here's an article on how to build your own:

PreSonus seems to use a small one, so it'd be great to get the part they use, if possible:
